What is an ELD and who needs one?

An Electronic Logging Device (ELD) automatically records a driver’s Hours of Service (HOS). The FMCSA mandates that most commercial motor vehicle drivers use an ELD to comply with federal regulations.

Is the Rand McNally ELD FMCSA-certified?

Yes. Rand McNally’s ELD solutions are fully compliant with FMCSA requirements and appear on the official list of registered ELDs.

Is the Rand McNally ELD Certified in Canada?

Rand McNally’s ELD is certified for Canada on the Android Application only.

What do I need to get started with a Rand McNally ELD?

All you need is a Rand ELD device (the Vehicle Link or the GX6), the Rand ELD mobile app, and a compatible smartphone, tablet, or Rand Tablet. Installation is quick and can be completed in just a few minutes.

What Devices work with Rand ELD?

The Rand ELD app supports both the iOS and Android operating systems as well the Rand Tablet.

How does the Rand ELD connect to my device?

The Rand ELD pairs via Bluetooth with your mobile device or Rand Tablet. Once paired, it begins recording engine and driving data automatically.

Does the ELD work without cellular service?

Yes. The Rand ELD records data continuously and syncs with the app when a connection is available. However, a data connection is needed to transmit logs or access cloud features.

Do I need a harness or adapter to connect the ELD device to my truck?

The default connector for Rand ELD is Green 9-pin Type 2. Some trucks may require an adapter harness to connect the device. Use the ‘Do I need a harness’ tool above to check if you require an additional harness and include it in your purchase

Can I manage multiple vehicles or drivers from one account?
